Ophthalmic Surgery
What Is Ophthalmic Surgery?
Ophthalmic, also known as ocular surgery, is essentially any surgery performed on your eyes. This can range from cataract surgeries to extraocular muscle surgeries. We know that undergoing any surgery can be a stressful ordeal. We prioritize your comfort and health; and do our best to ease the process for you.
What Is A Cataract?
Cataract surgery is one of the most common ophthalmic surgeries, but not many people think about cataracts until they or a loved one begin to suffer from one. A cataract is the clouding of the lens of your eye, and it usually comes as a result of aging. According to the National Eye Institute, by age 80, over half of all Americans either have had a cataract surgery or currently have a cataract. Some symptoms for having a cataract are cloudy vision, faded colors, poor night vision and frequent prescription changes in your glasses or contacts.
Cataract Surgery
If a cataract is in its early stages, it can often be treated with new glasses or better lighting, among other things. However, if your cataract is affecting your everyday activities, like driving or reading, surgery might be the best option for you. In a cataract surgery, our trained doctors will remove the lens of your eye and replace it with an artificial lens. This is a common and safe procedure, and our staff is dedicated to helping you remain comfortable during the surgery and leave healthier and happier after.
